We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Credit Controller to join our finance team within a fast-paced property management environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing rent and service charge collections, reducing arrears, maintaining accurate debtor records, and producing high-quality reports using advanced Excel skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and control tenant and client debtors, ensuring timely collection of rent, service charges, and other property-related income
- Monitor aged debt reports and take proactive action to reduce outstanding balances
- Liaise with tenants, property managers, and external agents regarding outstanding accounts
- Prepare and issue invoices, statements, and reminders in line with company procedures
- Allocate incoming payments accurately and resolve any payment discrepancies
- Reconcile debtor accounts and investigate variances
- Prepare monthly arrears reports and cash collection forecasts
- Use advanced Excel functions (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, data analysis tools) to create and maintain reports
- Support month-end processes relating to debtors and revenue
- Assist with audit queries and provide supporting documentation when required
- Maintain accurate records in the property management/accounting system
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience as a Credit Controller, ideally within the property, real estate, or facilities management sector
- Excellent Excel skills (including pivot tables, lookup formulas, conditional formatting, and data manipulation)
- Strong numerical and analytical ability
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple accounts
- Knowledge of property management systems (e.g., MRI, Yardi, Qube, TRAMPS, or similar) desirable
Qualifications
- AAT or equivalent accounting qualification (desirable)
- GCSE/Equivalent in Maths and English
