Are you an ambitious Accounts Assistant looking to take the next step towards becoming a qualified accountant?
We are recruiting for an Assistant Accountant to join a successful and expanding business in Hindley.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong grounding in transactional finance who is currently studying, or looking to begin studying, AAT, ACCA or CIMA.
The business offers study support, hands-on experience across the finance function and genuine opportunities for progression as you develop your qualifications.
The Role
Working closely with the Finance Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the finance department while gaining exposure to month-end and management accounting activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Transactional Finance
- Processing high volumes of purchase ledger invoices
- Raising sales invoices and credit notes
- Allocating customer receipts and supplier payments
- Reconciling supplier statements and customer accounts
- Managing invoice queries and resolving discrepancies
- Assisting with credit control and aged debt management
- Banking & Cash Management
- Daily bank postings and reconciliations
- Monitoring cash receipts and payments
- Assisting with cash flow reporting and forecasting
- Assistant Accounting Duties
- Assisting with month-end close procedures
- Preparing journal entries and accruals
- Supporting balance sheet reconciliations
- Assisting with management accounts preparation
- Maintaining fixed asset registers
- Supporting budgeting and reporting activities
- Ad hoc financial analysis and reporting
About You
- Previous experience within an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant or Assistant Accountant role
- Strong understanding of transactional accounting processes
- Good working knowledge of Excel, including formulas and data analysis
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
- Able to manage workloads and meet deadlines
- Studying AAT, ACCA or CIMA, or keen to commence professional studies
