RG Consultancy are working with a very well-established firm of Solicitors in Stockport who are recruiting for a Legal Cashier to join their small finance team. You will join a small growing team and report into the Finance Manager

Key Responsibilities
- Posting incoming payments to the correct client and office account ledgers
- Processing outgoing payments by bank transfer and cheque in line with firm procedures and SRA Accounts Rules
- Checking completion statements to ensure financial accuracy before completion.
- Posting client bills, ensuring fees, VAT, and disbursements are recorded correctly
- Posting purchase ledger invoices and allocating them to the correct supplier and nominal accounts
- Reconciling client and office account transactions and resolving any discrepancies
- Ensuring compliance with SRA Accounts Rules and the firm's financial policies
- Liaising with fee earners, clients, and suppliers to resolve payment and billing queries
- Assisting with month-end accounts processes and general legal cashiering duties
Person Specification
- Proven experience as a Legal Cashier within a law firm or working an account's role within a similar professional services environment
- Strong understanding of Solicitors Accounts Rules (SARs) and VAT legislation
- Excellent attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and organisational skills
- Proficient in legal and/or accounting software
- Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise confidently across departments
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a busy, deadline-driven environment
- An AAT qualification would be an advantage
