Role summary

The Project and Operations Manager is responsible for the successful planning and delivery of RFID Discovery solutions across our global customer base.

Working closely with our sales teams, technical consultants, software developers, solution engineers, third-party partners, and customers, you will manage projects throughout their full lifecycle - from initial discovery phase through design, delivery, implementation, validation, training, customer acceptance and transition into operational support.

You will ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to agreed quality standards with all appropriate documentation, whilst maintaining excellent customer relationships and promoting best practice throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

  • Project Delivery
  • Own the full project lifecycle from initiation through planning, execution, deployment, training, customer acceptance and operational handover.
  • Deliver multiple concurrent global projects within agreed scope, timescales, budget and quality objectives.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules and resource plans.
  • Define project objectives, scope, deliverables, milestones and acceptance criteria.
  • Support creation of proposals, Scope of Works, User Requirement Specifications
  • Coordinate site surveys, software development timelines, infrastructure/server setup, hardware delivery and installation, testing, training and go-live activities.
  • Monitor project progress against agreed milestones and proactively manage any deviations with the team
  • Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and customer sign-off where applicable.
  • Capture lessons learned and contribute towards continual improvement initiatives.
  • Manage change requests and raise risks and issues as they occur.
  • Act as the primary customer contact throughout project delivery.
  • Build trusted relationships with customers, suppliers, implementation partners and internal stakeholders.
  • Facilitate project workshops, progress meetings and steering group reviews.
  • Ensure customer requirements are understood, documented and managed throughout delivery by all stakeholders
  • Manage customer expectations through clear communication and effective issue resolution, preventing scope drift at all times.
  • Support commercial teams by identifying opportunities for future project phases and enhancements.

  • Work closely with Software Development, Client Infrastructure/IT Teams, Professional Services, Consultants, Engineers, Support and Commercial teams.
  • Support project forecasting, milestone planning and budget management.
  • Monitor estimated versus actual effort to improve future resource planning.
  • Risk, Governance & Commercial Management
  • Maintain project RAID logs, meeting transcripts, action lists.
  • Identify and manage project risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies.
  • Manage project scope and change requests through agreed governance processes.
  • Ensure delivery remains aligned with contractual commitments, Statements of Work, and internal ISO and QMS compliance.
  • Escalate significant project risks, commercial issues, and deviations from internal processes appropriately.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation in accordance with company quality procedures.

  • Contribute to day-to-day operational activities beyond core responsibilities, supporting inventory management, commissioning, implementation, asset tracking, and other operational tasks as required to facilitate efficient project delivery.

Qualifications

  • Degree-level education or equivalent industry experience.

Experience

  • Minimum five years' Project Management experience.
  • Successful delivery of software or technology implementation projects.
  • Stakeholder management across technical and business audiences.
  • Budget, resource and schedule management.
  • Risk, issue and change management.

Skills

  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent customer relationship management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Proficient with Microsoft 365 and modern project management software.
