King’s College London invites applications for the position of TOPS Research Fellow – Genomics Analyst within the Social, Genetic & Developmental Psychiatry Centre at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN), based at the Denmark Hill Campus in London. This fixed-term research role (full-time, 35 hours per week) is central to a Wellcome-funded initiative known as the Treatment Outcomes Prediction Study (TOPS). TOPS is a multi-cohort precision psychiatry programme focused on understanding biological and cognitive mechanisms underlying psychological treatment response in anxiety disorders.

The appointed Research Fellow will contribute significantly to genomic and statistical genetic analyses across large, well-characterised cohort datasets, integrating genomic data with cognitive phenotyping, digital assessments, and linked NHS Talking Therapies outcomes, including data from national cohorts such as GLAD, TEDS and Genes & Health. The role also involves leading collaborations with international consortia such as the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium, and incorporating genomic predictors into multivariable and machine-learning prediction models to advance knowledge of genomic influences on treatment outcomes. The successful candidate will be embedded within an internationally recognised psychiatric genomics research environment and collaborate widely across genetics, clinical psychology and data science teams. The contract is initially for two years with the possibility of extension.

Eligibility Criteria

  • PhD awarded in psychiatric genetics, biostatistics, statistics or a closely related quantitative discipline.
  • Demonstrated extensive experience working with clinical or equivalent datasets.
  • Proven track record of genomic data analysis, including development of analytic pipelines.
  • Experience in research related to mental disorders, particularly anxiety and/or depression, and/or treatment response data.

Required expertise/skills

  • Proficiency in statistical genetics and genomic data science.
  • Advanced programming skills in R, Python or similar languages.
  • Strong quantitative analysis capabilities with experience developing and applying analytic pipelines to large genomic datasets.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with multidisciplinary research teams and international partners.
  • Experience with genomic prediction models, SNP-heritability estimation, polygenic scoring, and integration of genomic data into predictive modelling frameworks.
