Northumbria University’s School of Geography and Natural Science invites applications for multiple Assistant Professor positions in Forensic Science. This is a strategic expansion to strengthen research capacity and teaching excellence within a newly formed and rapidly growing academic community focused on forensic science.
As part of this appointment, successful candidates will contribute to shaping the future direction of forensic science research, engage in high-quality teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and support an outstanding student experience. Appointees will work within a vibrant, research-intensive environment equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.
The School is building one of the UK’s leading forensic science research groups and offers access to advanced infrastructure such as a Crime Scene House, multi-omics laboratories (genomics, metabolomics, proteomics), high-performance computing for bioinformatics, and expert technical support. Candidates will be part of a collegial, inclusive culture with support for research development, mentoring, and career progression.
Eligibility Criteria- A first degree in a relevant discipline with specialist knowledge gained through a PhD or equivalent professional experience.
- A strong academic record with evidence of high-quality research or equivalent scholarly activity.
- Commitment to excellent teaching, learning and assessment at higher education level.
- An inclusive approach to student support and engagement.
- Research expertise with the ability to develop and pursue a sustained research programme.
- Teaching capability in forensic science or related areas, with engagement in curriculum development.
- Scholarly achievements commensurate with early-career academic expectations.
