The Department of Mathematics at the University of Warwick is inviting applications for two Postdoctoral Research and Teaching Fellow positions. These full-time roles are fixed-term contracts for up to three years, ending on August 31, 2029.

Designed to balance teaching and research, these fellowships allow academics to make meaningful contributions to the department’s teaching provision while reserving dedicated time to establish and maintain an independent research program:

Each fellow will be paired with a mentor in their specific subject area, though researchers maintain complete freedom to define and develop their own research agenda.
  • Teaching & Academic Support (50% of time): Fellows will play a leading role in delivering small-group support classes and tutorials, as well as grading assignments for undergraduate students. Additional responsibilities include contributing to a range of teaching and learning activities, such as personal tutoring, outreach events, and university open days.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Completed, or close to completing, a PhD in Mathematics.
  • Demonstrable experience in teaching small academic groups.
  • Demonstrated strong research potential in Mathematics.
  • Suitable for individuals seeking a first postdoctoral appointment, as well as candidates with prior postdoctoral experience.

  • Sound understanding of Mathematics at the first- and second-year university level, ideally spanning the breadth of the Warwick curriculum.
  • Advanced knowledge of Python (preferred for one of the two available positions).
  • Strong planning, time management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a teaching team.
  • Enthusiasm and commitment to providing a high-quality learning experience and engaging productively with undergraduate students.
