The Senior Network Engineer will interact directly with our high-profile, elite client base, ensuring they receive our first-rate service. This position will be responsible for all network and security designs, implementations, and day-to-day support for various client network infrastructures. The Senior Network Engineer will also be an integral part in handling various networking functions including data center operations, security, and firewall management, leveraging expertise in Cisco and Palo Alto technologies.
This role offers visibility across all levels of senior management and presents an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing, global IT services provider. The Network Engineer must demonstrate a high level of professionalism and sound judgment, promoting superior service to RFA clients. Ideal candidates will have experience supporting IT in the financial services industry and have worked for a Managed Services Provider (MSP).
Responsibilities
- Design complex network solutions for new and existing client sites, relocations, upgrades, expansions, and disaster recovery, with a focus on Cisco core network requirements.
- Assist in designing, building, and configuring global network environments, demonstrating strong knowledge of data center technologies, and training peers in their application.
- Implement and maintain logical network design models (L2/L3, spanning tree, VTP, VLANs), remote VPNs, network control protocols (QoS, PoE, NTP, DHCP), management protocols (SNMP, FTP, TFTP), and security protocols (SSH, HTTPS, AAA).
- Provide Tier 3 support for network and data communication issues, including circuits, routing protocols, VPNs, WAN optimization, hardware, and third-party vendor connectivity.
- Research networking issues and products, applying critical thinking to evaluate solutions and determine effective resolutions.
- Prioritize tasks based on client needs, managing expectations to ensure client satisfaction.
- Configure IPSec VPN tunnels, IP communication, and routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP).
- Leverage knowledge of equipment, processes, quality control, and techniques to maximize efficiency.
- Balance BAU and project work, with time sheets completed for billing.
- Participate in on-call rotations approximately every 10 weeks, handling escalations from other business units.
Qualifications
- 7-10 years of related IT experience in a Cisco environment.
- CCNP certification or equivalent.
- Experience in network design architecture.
- Advanced routing and switching skills.
- Willingness to travel to client sites and data centers as needed.
- Experience with Palo Alto firewalls required; Fortigate and ASA experience is a plus.
- Experience in the financial services industry and MSP environment preferred.
- Strong understanding of routing, WAN/LAN, and transport technologies (Ethernet, SDWAN, VPN, DMVPN, MPLS).
- Excellent troubleshooting skills for desktops and servers.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Visio.
- Experience with Solarwinds Orion and Kiwi Syslog is advantageous.
