The opportunity
We're looking for a
Senior Game Economy & Monetisation Designer to help design, optimise, and scale the in-game economy and monetisation systems for a live mobile game.
You'll work closely with Product, Design, Analytics, and Live Ops teams to create engaging player experiences while driving long-term player value and sustainable revenue growth.
The ideal candidate has experience designing economies for free-to-play mobile games, a strong understanding of sports-related gaming markets, and is comfortable using data to inform decisions, including market intelligence tools such as Sensor Tower or equivalent platforms.
Responsibilities
- Design, balance, and maintain the game's virtual economy, including currencies, progression, rewards, sinks, and sources.
- Develop and optimise monetisation features, including in-app purchases, offers, bundles, battle passes, subscriptions, and limited-time events.
- Create pricing strategies and promotional calendars that maximise player engagement and lifetime value.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Game Designers, and Live Ops to deliver monetisation initiatives aligned with business goals.
- Analyse feature performance and player behaviour using quantitative data to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Conduct competitive analysis using Sensor Tower or equivalent market intelligence platforms to benchmark monetisation strategies, pricing, live events, and market trends.
- Monitor key performance indicators such as ARPDAU, ARPPU, conversion rate, retention, engagement, and LTV, translating insights into actionable recommendations.
- Support A/B testing initiatives by defining hypotheses, measuring results, and iterating based on data.
- Balance player satisfaction with commercial performance by creating fair, engaging, and sustainable monetisation systems.
- Stay current on industry trends, particularly in sports and sports-management mobile games.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in monetisation, economy design, game design, product management, or a similar role within free-to-play mobile games.
- Proven experience designing and balancing virtual economies and monetisation systems.
- Strong understanding of free-to-play business models and player lifecycle management.
- Experience working with sports-related mobile games or sports gaming markets is highly preferred.
- Experience using Sensor Tower or equivalent market intelligence tools for competitive research, market analysis, and performance benchmarking.
- Comfortable analysing data and drawing insights from dashboards, spreadsheets, and analytics platforms.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent communication skills and experience working with cross-functional teams.
- Passion for mobile gaming and live-service products.
- Nice to Have
- Experience with SQL, Looker, Tableau, Power BI, or similar analytics tools.
- Experience running or interpreting A/B tests.
- Familiarity with game economy balancing models and simulation tools.
- Experience working on live-operated games with regular content updates.
- Knowledge of sports licensing, fantasy sports, or sports management titles.
