About the Role
We are looking for a Technical Artist with strong Unity and Maya experience and a solid background in mobile game development.
This mid-level role suits someone comfortable working independently, with a broad Technical Art skill set and ambition to take the next step toward a Senior Technical Artist position.
You will work between the art and development teams, supporting a wide range of technical art needs across production. This could include asset integration, shaders and materials, tools, optimisation, animation support, VFX, environments, UI, and general problem-solving across the art pipeline.
The role focuses on Unity and mobile development while also supporting Rezzil’s wider work across VR, console, and Unreal Engine projects.
You will join a growing Technical Art team led by our Lead Technical Artist, working alongside team members with strengths in character pipelines, tooling, data-driven workflows, and broader real-time production.
As the team grows, you will have opportunities to build your own expertise, take ownership of more significant work, and progress toward a senior role.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Support the technical implementation of art assets and visual systems within Unity.
- Work closely with artists, developers, and designers to solve a broad range of technical and visual challenges.
- Develop and maintain efficient workflows between Maya and game engines.
- Support shaders, materials, lighting, VFX, animation, UI, environments, and character pipelines as required.
- Ensure art content is suitable for mobile hardware and other target platforms.
- Develop tools and automation to improve artist workflows and reduce repetitive production tasks.
- Help troubleshoot and resolve issues across the wider art pipeline.
- Contribute to asset setup, scene organisation, optimisation, and general in-engine production support.
- Contribute to Technical Art standards, workflows, and best practices across Rezzil.
- Take increasing ownership of technical areas as you develop toward a Senior Technical Artist role.
Skills & Experience
We’re looking for someone with:
- Professional Technical Art experience within games or real-time interactive development, ideally at a mid-level.
- Strong production experience with Unity.
- Strong working knowledge of Maya.
- Strong understanding of mobile game development and the constraints involved in delivering real-time content across a range of mobile devices.
- Good knowledge of real-time rendering, materials, and shaders.
- Experience integrating and managing art assets within a production game engine.
- Experience creating or improving Technical Art tools and workflows.
- Working knowledge of scripting, ideally C# and/or Python.
- The ability to investigate technical problems independently and work effectively across art and development disciplines.
Nice to Have
- VFX and real-time effects experience.
- Character, rigging or animation pipeline experience.
- Unity URP and shader development experience.
- Experience shipping a commercial mobile game.
- Experience with VR, AR, or other immersive platforms.
- Experience using AI-assisted tools and workflows within art or Technical Art pipelines.
