The Buyer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, analysing supplier proposals and purchasing non produce for the organisation. This role involves managing supplier relationships, ensuring product quality specifications are met, and maintaining cost efficiency. The Buyer must stay updated on market trends, and industry challenges to make informed purchasing decisions that align with the company’s objectives and customer expectation.

Accountabilities:

  • Research & source new suppliers & products.

  • Meet existing suppliers – building and maintaining relationships & manage supplier performance.

  • Managing & sourcing new products/range requests from the sales team.

  • Negotiate best price on key product categories, ensuring quality and technical requirements are met.

  • Analyse supplier price reviews to ensure supplier prices remain competitive.

  • Collaborate with supply chain, sales, operations, logistics and quality teams.

  • Communicate with suppliers to ensure delivery requirements are met.

  • Participate in daily internal communications.

Measured KPI’s:

  • Purchase price variance (PPV).

  • Effective sourcing of new products and ranges for customers.

  • Cost reduction.

  • NPD.

  • Effective Supplier Management.

  • 2 – 3 years Food Service Procurement Experience.

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, in particular Word, Intermediate level – Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to analyse and interpret Customer & supplier data.

  • Strong Negotiator in a fair and ethical manner.

  • Strong commercial and market awareness.

  • Great interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Proficient level of numerical accuracy and reporting skills.

  • Annual pay reviews.

  • 20 days holiday. plus Bank Holidays. (increasing to 25 days with service).
