The Role
Reynolds Food Group are seeking an experienced and qualified Health & Safety Manager to lead, develop, and embed a strong safety culture across our entire operation. This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone with experience in FMCG, food distribution, or warehouse-based environments. Based in Waltham Cross (Food Town), you will be required to monitor and manage health & safety site wide and to visit/audit our subsidiaries to support/promote compliance. Focused on ensuring compliance with UK legislation while driving continuous improvement, possessing excellent interpersonal skills to positively influence the Reynolds Food Group.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with UK H&S legislation (HSAW, RIDDOR, COSHH, PUWER etc), HSE guidance, and industry best practice.
- Issue periodic performance reports to the Technical Director.
- Create method statements.
- Lead accident, incident, and near-miss investigations and implement corrective actions, whilst maintaining a central incident log.
- Carry out regular site inspections and audits.
- Deliver H&S training, toolbox talks, and inductions to staff at all levels.
- Liaise with enforcement authorities, insurers, and external auditors (e.g. BRC, SMETA) when required.
- Support food safety standards where H&S and hygiene overlap (e.g. BRCGS, HACCP environments).
- Overall accountability for the Reynolds Group H&S Management System.
- Lead emergency preparedness, fire safety, first aid arrangements, and crisis response plans.
- Support environmental and sustainability compliance in coordination with ISO 14001 systems.
- Promote a positive safety culture in a fast-moving operational environment.
About You
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) – essential.
- Proven experience in a warehouse, FMCG, food wholesale, food manufacturing or logistics environment.
- Strong working knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation.
- Experience of managing safety across a multi-site operation.
- Confident communicator able to engage shop-floor teams and senior management.
- Strong investigation skills and ability to produce reports for senior stakeholders.
- Experience with manual handling, FLT operations, temperature-controlled environments, and transport safety.
- Full UK driving licence and ability to travel to group sites/locations.
