Due to continued growth, we are recruiting a Fleet Engineer for the Midlands and Northern regions. This role will be based in the Midlands with national travel a requirement.
Key Skills- Proven technical expertise in the maintenance and repair of LGV Fuel and Gas carrying vehicles
- In depth knowledge of ADR, SLP and O License regulations
- Ability to draw up detailed vehicle specifications to support specialist customer applications
- Effective communication skills with drivers, planners, transport managers, suppliers and regulatory bodies
- Health, safety and environmental awareness specific to Fuel & Gas Operations
- Ability to manage budgets and optimise fleet efficiency
- Experience in fleet forecasting / replacement cycles / planning
- Experienced with the installation and output of in truck telemetry systems
- Familiar with fleet management software in terms of ERS compliance
- Ability to deliver timebound projects
- Leadership and team management skills
- Ability to work both strategically and hands on
- Strong written, numeric and IT skills
- Ensure allocated fleet is maintained to industry standards whilst controlling cost and minimising downtime
- Lead and develop the fleet team
- Hold responsibility for fleet maintenance compliance and ERS reporting
- Work with the operational team to ensure the correct amount of assets are available to support forecasted business activity
- Design and maintain vehicle specifications in line with industry best practice
- Ensure livery policy is current and adhered to
- Obtain quotes for new assets and provide detailed lifecycle forecasts to support recommendations
- Identify best value method (R&M Contract / PAYG) for each asset type based on age profile, operating location and supplier availability
- Review and sign off all maintenance invoices ensuring full value is obtained
- Negotiate / agree maintenance rates for all non-contract maintenance
- Provide detailed cost reports by asset type
- Plan and agree fleet disposal method/s to ensure maximum revenue is achieved
- Record and publish vehicle downtime and address concerns with suppliers
- Hold review meetings with manufacturers and suppliers publishing detailed minutes for the same
- Review quality of PMI / defect rectification paperwork from suppliers and address concerns
- Ensure O Licence conditions are met at each operating location
- Instigate trials in vehicle technology / innovation to identify safety / cost / productivity improvements
- Provide specialist advice to operational team for asset defect / breakdown / incident
- Attend customer meetings to discuss future requirements and / or equipment concerns
- Support the wider business as a subject matter expert
- Support non-vehicle related maintenance / contractor management
- Oversee site layout / parking requirements for new / existing locations
- Support innovation projects related to vehicle and road safety
