Section Head to help lead that journey at our Waltham Cross distribution centre.

The Role

As a Section Head, you will lead and develop a team of 8–16 colleagues, ensuring your area consistently delivers safe, accurate, and efficient warehouse operations.

You’ll take full ownership of performance within your section — driving productivity, maintaining high standards, and ensuring customer orders are completed to schedule.

This is a hands‑on leadership role where you’ll balance people management, operational delivery, and continuous improvement.

  • What You’ll Be Doing
  • Leading, motivating and developing a team of warehouse colleagues to achieve operational targets.
  • Taking ownership of departmental KPIs including productivity, accuracy, attendance and service levels.
  • Monitoring performance and implementing corrective actions where required.
  • Planning and allocating resources to meet daily operational demands.
  • Driving continuous improvement across quality, efficiency and customer service.
  • Managing labour costs including overtime, agency usage and absence control.
  • Ensuring compliance with all Health & Safety, Hygiene and Environmental standards.
  • Delivering clear communication and regular team briefings.
  • Coaching and developing your team to support engagement and progression.
  • Acting as deputy for the Senior Operations Manager when required.

  • Proven experience in a warehouse or logistics leadership role (Section Head, Supervisor or similar).
  • Strong people management skills with a coaching and development mindset.
  • Experience managing KPIs, performance and operational targets.
  • Ability to prioritise, organise and deliver under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills with a professional and confident approach.
  • A hands‑on, proactive leadership style.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships across teams and departments.
  • Confidence in problem solving and conflict resolution.
