We’re working with a specialist roofing and building envelope contractor who have secured a significant package on a major Energy from Waste project in Tilbury. Due to continued workload growth and the expansion of their commercial team, they are now looking to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor to take ownership of the commercial delivery of this high profile scheme. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior QS who enjoys working closely with operational teams, managing complex contracts and operating in a role where commercial expertise genuinely influences project success.

The Role

This position will take commercial responsibility for a major Energy from Waste project in Tilbury, working closely with both operational and client teams to ensure robust commercial control throughout the lifecycle of the scheme. The successful individual will play a key role in procurement, contract administration, commercial reporting and stakeholder management, whilst supporting the wider business through proactive commercial decision making. This role requires someone who is comfortable operating independently, managing demanding stakeholders and maintaining commercial discipline on a complex live project.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead the commercial management of a major Energy from Waste project
  • Administer NEC and NEC style contracts, ensuring contractual compliance throughout the project lifecycle
  • Manage early warning notices, compensation events and contractual communications
  • Maintain accurate forecasting, reporting and cost control processes
  • Support procurement activities and subcontractor management
  • Work closely with operational teams to identify and mitigate commercial risk
  • Manage client relationships and commercial negotiations effectively
  • Ensure robust financial controls and commercial governance across the project
  • Provide regular commercial updates to senior management

The Ideal Candidate

We are keen to speak with experienced Senior Quantity Surveyors who can demonstrate strong commercial capability, excellent contract knowledge and the confidence to operate within a demanding project environment. You will ideally have:

  • Proven Senior Quantity Surveying experience within construction, infrastructure or specialist contracting sectors
  • Strong NEC contract knowledge, including Early Warning Notices and Compensation Events
  • Excellent commercial acumen and cost management experience
  • Ability to manage challenging stakeholders and confidently defend commercial positions
  • Strong reporting, forecasting and financial control skills
  • Experience working on large scale or technically complex projects
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to be site based in Tilbury

Experience within Energy from Waste, industrial, infrastructure or major construction projects would be highly advantageous.
