We’re working with an award-winning specialist construction contracting group who are looking to appoint a Business & Project Coordinator to join their team based in Fenstanton, near Cambridge. This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly organised and proactive individual who enjoys coordinating multiple activities, supporting project teams and ensuring business processes run smoothly behind the scenes. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting commercial, operational and compliance functions across the business, whilst acting as a central point of coordination for project and workforce administration.
About the Company
Our client is a well-established and award-winning specialist contractor, delivering projects across the roofing, cladding and wider building envelope sectors. With a strong reputation for quality, innovation and customer service, the business continues to grow and invest in both its people and operational infrastructure, creating an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator to join the team.
The Role
This is a varied position that combines project administration, commercial support, training coordination and business operations. Working closely with commercial, operational and leadership teams, you will be responsible for maintaining key business systems, coordinating workforce compliance, supporting project delivery and ensuring information is managed accurately across the organisation. This is not a traditional administration role. Instead, it is ideally suited to someone who enjoys taking ownership, managing multiple priorities and becoming a trusted support function within a busy project-led business.
Core Responsibilities
- Act as a central coordination point between commercial, operational and project teams, ensuring information is communicated effectively across the business.
- Manage and maintain the company training and competency matrix for approximately 240 employees, ensuring qualifications, certifications and compliance records remain accurate and up to date.
- Coordinate training requirements, refresher courses, new starter onboarding and workforce compliance activities.
- Support commercial and project teams with project administration, documentation and reporting requirements.
- Maintain project records, drawings, certifications, correspondence and contractual documentation, ensuring information is accurately controlled and readily accessible.
- Prepare reports, presentations, project updates and business documentation using Microsoft Office and Adobe software.
- Coordinate project meetings, management reviews and business activities, including preparing agendas, recording minutes and tracking actions through to completion.
- Act as a key point of contact for clients, suppliers and internal stakeholders, ensuring a professional and responsive service is maintained.
- Support the preparation of proposals, tenders, bid submissions and contractual documentation.
- Assist with project mobilisation activities and ensure administrative requirements are completed in line with programme requirements.
- Maintain document control processes and filing systems to support project delivery and compliance obligations.
- Support management teams with workforce communications, compliance reporting and operational administration.
- Assist with the continuous improvement of business systems, administrative processes and reporting procedures.
The Ideal Candidate
We are keen to speak with organised, detail-focused professionals who enjoy working within project-driven environments and supporting multiple stakeholders. You may currently be working as a:
- Project Administrator
- Commercial Administrator
- Business Support Coordinator
- Project Coordinator
- Document Controller
- Office Manager
- Executive Assistant supporting operational teams
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience within administration, project coordination, commercial support or document control.
- Strong organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Experience managing documentation, records and compliance processes.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience within construction, engineering, infrastructure or specialist contracting sectors would be highly advantageous, although not essential.
- Familiarity with CRM systems would be beneficial.
Why this role stands out
This is an opportunity to join a successful and growing construction business where administration is viewed as a critical part of project delivery rather than simply a support function. The role offers genuine flexibility around working patterns, exposure to a broad range of business functions and the chance to become a key member of a collaborative team where your contribution will have a visible impact across the organisation.
