We are recruiting for an Operations Manager to join a growing specialist contractor delivering flat roofing and cladding projects across a key regional patch. This is a senior operational appointment for someone who understands how to manage multiple live schemes, support project teams on the ground, and maintain strong standards across delivery, client relationships, and commercial awareness.

About the Company

Our client is a well established specialist contractor operating across the commercial roofing and cladding sector, with a strong pipeline of secured works and ongoing relationships with major main contractors. The business delivers a mix of predominantly new build projects, alongside some refurbishment works, across a broad regional patch. They have built a strong reputation for quality delivery, practical problem solving, and maintaining a hands on approach across operations.

Due to continued growth and a recent vacancy falling through late in the process, they are now looking to appoint an Operations Manager to take ownership of a key area of the business.

The Role

This is a regional operational leadership role, covering projects primarily across the West Midlands and South West corridor. The patch will broadly include Birmingham and the western side of the Midlands, down through the M5 corridor, across to South Wales including Cardiff, and along the M4 corridor with coverage reaching toward Oxford as required. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing multiple live projects, supporting site based teams, and ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing a portfolio of flat roofing and cladding projects across the region.
  • Supporting and managing project managers and site teams across multiple live sites.
  • Acting as a key operational link between the delivery teams and senior management.
  • Maintaining strong client relationships and representing the business professionally on site and in meetings.
  • Driving standards across programme, quality, health and safety, and overall project performance.
  • Providing practical support to teams on live jobs and helping resolve issues before they escalate.
  • Working across predominantly new build projects, with some refurbishment exposure where required.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking to speak with experienced operational leaders from within the flat roofing sector who are comfortable managing a busy regional patch and understand the demands of delivering multiple projects at once. The ideal background will include:

  • Strong operational or contracts management experience within flat roofing.
  • Good working knowledge of a range of flat roofing systems including warm roofs, torch on systems, and hot melt.
  • Experience overseeing new build commercial projects.
  • Ability to manage and support site teams across multiple locations.
  • A confident and professional client facing style.
  • A practical, solutions led mindset with the ability to stay calm under pressure and deal with issues quickly.
  • Cladding experience would be beneficial, although the core focus of the role is flat roofing.
  • Previous experience working with specialist contractors or within the supply chain of major main contractors would be highly advantageous.

This role would suit someone who can bring structure, leadership, and credibility to a growing workload, while still remaining close enough to the detail to add value on live projects.

Why this role stands out

This is a genuinely important hire for the business and offers the opportunity to step into a visible leadership role within an established contractor with a healthy pipeline of work. You will be joining a business that is already well embedded with recognised contractors and continuing to grow its footprint across a strong regional patch. It is also a role with real variety, covering multiple project types, a broad geographical area, and the chance to play a key part in shaping operational performance as the business continues to scale. For the right person, this is an opportunity to join a busy and well respected contractor where your experience will be valued and where you can make an immediate impact.
