We’re working with a leading specialist contractor within the roofing and building envelope sector who continue to secure a diverse range of projects across the commercial, industrial and public sectors. Due to continued growth and an exciting period of expansion, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Senior Estimator to strengthen their pre-construction team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced roofing estimator who can confidently manage multiple tenders, build strong supply chain relationships and play a key role in securing projects ranging from £100,000 to £4 million.

The Role

Working within an experienced estimating team, you will take responsibility for preparing accurate, commercially competitive tenders across a varied portfolio of roofing and waterproofing projects. Typical project values range from £100,000 through to £4 million, with the majority of projects sitting around the £500,000 mark. The role requires someone who is comfortable managing multiple tenders simultaneously whilst maintaining exceptional levels of accuracy and commercial awareness. The successful individual will work closely with commercial, operational and supply chain teams to develop winning submissions and identify opportunities to maximise project profitability.

Core Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates and tender submissions for roofing and building envelope projects
  • Analyse drawings, specifications, schedules and tender documentation
  • Carry out detailed material take‑offs and labour assessments
  • Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors
  • Develop competitive pricing strategies while protecting project margins
  • Identify value engineering opportunities to strengthen tender submissions
  • Liaise with clients, consultants and internal stakeholders throughout the tender process
  • Support commercial handovers to operational teams following successful contract awards
  • Maintain accurate estimating records, pricing databases and tender documentation
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of estimating processes and commercial reporting

The Ideal Candidate

We are keen to speak with experienced estimators who can demonstrate a strong technical understanding of roofing and waterproofing systems. You will ideally have:

  • Previous experience as a Senior Estimator or Estimator within the roofing or waterproofing sector
  • Strong knowledge of flat roofing systems
  • Experience pricing standing seam roofing and cladding projects would be highly advantageous
  • Ability to manage a high volume of tenders while maintaining exceptional accuracy
  • Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building abilities
  • Confident interpreting technical drawings and construction specifications
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and estimating software
