We’re working with a specialist national contractor operating across roofing and cladding projects throughout the UK. Due to continued growth, they are now looking to appoint an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of projects across the North West. This opportunity would suit an ambitious Assistant QS looking to develop within a supportive environment, gaining exposure across subcontractor management, commercial reporting and project delivery within the roofing and building envelope sector.

The Role

Working closely with the commercial and operational teams, you will support the commercial management of roofing and cladding projects from pre construction through to final account. This role will offer broad exposure across subcontractor management, valuations, commercial administration and project support, making it an ideal position for someone looking to continue progressing their QS career within the construction sector.

Core Responsibilities

  • Assist with the commercial management of roofing and cladding projects
  • Support subcontractor procurement and order management
  • Assist with valuations, variations and cost reporting
  • Support commercial forecasting and project cost control
  • Work closely with operational teams to ensure smooth project delivery
  • Manage subcontractors’ governance process including subcontractor onboarding and compliance processes
  • Support the monitoring of subcontractors performance against programme, quality and cost objectives
  • Manage the post completion subcontractor evaluation process by engaging with the operations team

The Ideal Candidate

We are keen to speak with candidates who are commercially minded, organised and looking to build a long term career within Quantity Surveying. You will ideally have:

  • A relevant qualification (degree or HND) in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field or previous experience within an Assistant QS or Trainee QS role
  • Construction industry experience
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Good commercial awareness
  • Positive can do attitude
  • Desire to learn and develop within a growing business
