An established renewable energy business is seeking a Deputy Head of Installations to help lead and support a growing team of 20+ installers across residential and commercial renewable energy projects. This is a key leadership position for a qualified electrician who can combine hands-on technical knowledge with strong people management and survey capability. Working closely with the wider operations and installation leadership team, the successful candidate will help drive installation quality, team performance, health and safety compliance and technical consistency across projects. This role would suit an experienced electrical professional from the solar or wider electrical installation sector who is ready to step into a senior operational role with real influence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the management and day-to-day leadership of a team of 20+ installers.
  • Assist in planning labour allocation, project scheduling and installation resource across multiple live sites.
  • Conduct site surveys and technical assessments ahead of installation works.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to electricians, roofers and installers.
  • Ensure installations are delivered in line with company quality standards, electrical regulations and health and safety requirements.
  • Carry out site inspections and monitor workmanship, productivity and compliance.
  • Support training, development and mentoring across the installation team.
  • Help resolve on-site technical issues and operational challenges quickly and effectively.
  • Work closely with project management, design and office teams to ensure strong project handover and delivery.
  • Contribute to process improvements, installation standards and operational efficiency across the business.
Preferred Ideal Experience & Skills Required
  • Qualified electrician with relevant electrical qualifications and current industry knowledge.
  • Proven experience within solar PV, battery storage or a related electrical installation environment.
  • Previous experience leading, supervising or supporting installation teams.
  • Capable of carrying out site surveys and identifying technical requirements before installation.
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical standards, installation best practice and health and safety requirements.
  • Able to communicate effectively with site teams, office staff and customers.
  • Organised, decisive and confident managing priorities in a fast-moving environment.
  • Solar supervisory experience or previous experience in a senior installation role would be highly desirable.
  • Inspection, testing or renewables-specific qualifications would be advantageous.
