Position Summary
As a Fleet Manager you will ensure that the DC's LGV fleet is maintained to the correct standard and in line with Construction and Use regulations. You will manage and co-ordinate MB DC's Transport Fleet activities as well as develop and implement strategies to provide a level of service to the DC that meets or surpasses expectations while managing costs to budget.
Responsibilities
- To assist the Transport Manager(s) with the formulation of annual financial budgets.
- To remain aware of industry standards and new design developments, making recommendations for efficiency and cost improvement.
- Influence and coach depot personnel to improve fleet utilisation and efficiency.
- To advise and support sites in the actions required to complete accident repairs and meet the requirements of insurers.
- Ensure compliance of our Operators Licence to include defect repair process, planning of inspections and CVRT's.
- Ensuring that the daily availability of equipment meets the operational requirements.
- Raising and control of purchase orders relating to fleet expenditure.
- Communication and SLA management with suppliers to minimise equipment downtime and monitor performance through regular meetings.
- Budget control for area including cost saving initiatives.
- Responsible for the Health & Safety of all fleet related contractors when on site.
Qualifications
- HGV C+E (Class 1) licence (Desirable).
- HND or City & Guilds (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering (Essential).
- Experience of Microsoft packages at Intermediate Level (Desirable).
- Aware of all current and pending industry legislation and developments (Essential).
- Previous experience in HVG mechanical maintenance.
