Rey Energy Ltd is a renewable energy company dedicated to delivering sustainable energy infrastructure projects that support the transition to a low-carbon future. As part of our growing portfolio of utility-scale solar PV developments in Newcastle, we are looking for an experienced Site Manager to lead on-site construction, testing, commissioning, and handover activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing daily site operations, supervising subcontractors, ensuring compliance with UK health and safety regulations, maintaining quality standards, and driving project delivery in line with schedule, budget, and technical requirements while working closely with the Project Director and wider project team.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all on-site construction activities for a utility-scale solar PV plant, from mobilisation through to testing, commissioning, and handover.
- Manage site Health, Safety, and Environmental (H&S) performance; ensure compliance with site rules, safety plans, and relevant regulations.
- Supervise and coordinate the work of multiple subcontractors on site, ensuring works are carried out in line with contractual and technical requirements.
- Monitor and enforce quality standards and workmanship against design drawings and technical specifications; support site-specific QA/QC processes.
- Manage the work schedule and track construction progress; identify and help resolve delays or risks to programme.
- Manage site logistics, deliveries, and general site organisation and security.
- Liaise with the Project Coordinator & Manager, engineers, and client representatives to ensure smooth day-to-day running of the site.
- Chair or contribute to site progress meetings and produce regular progress reports.
- Maintain accurate site records and documentation, including as-built information.
- Support commissioning activities and grid connection works as required.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Site Manager / Construction Manager on utility-scale solar PV projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction techniques and site management best practices for large-scale solar projects.
- Valid CSCS card (Black card preferred), plus SMSTS or SSSTS and First Aid; NVQ Level 6 or higher in Construction Management (or equivalent) also considered.
- Familiarity with UK construction health & safety regulations.
- Experience managing multiple subcontractors concurrently on a single site.
- Comfortable working with technical documentation, drawings, and industry standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, MS Project and site/project reporting tools.
- Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
- Fluent spoken and written English.
- Full, clean UK driving licence.
- Right to work in the UK.
