Rexel is looking for an experienced and proactive HGV Driver Trainer to join our Aylesbury Distribution Centre & Wider Supply Chain Network. This is a Monday to Friday role, with expectations to be flexible across AM, PM & Night shifts. This role is ideal for someone with strong HGV driving experience who is passionate about driver development, operational safety and compliance. You’ll play a key part in supporting our transport operation by delivering inductions, driver assessments, branch & risk assessments, ongoing training and performance support.

In this role, you will help ensure our drivers are trained to a high standard and that statutory, legal and operational requirements are met and maintained. Working closely with the transport team, you’ll support day-to-day operation through coaching, monitoring performance, and providing retraining where needed.

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver driver inductions and pre-employment assessments
  • Provide refresher training and additional mode training
  • Maintain accurate training and competence records
  • Support drivers following incidents through reassessment and retraining
  • Review driver performance data with management, and create action plans to support improvements
  • Carry out targeted behavioural coaching where required
  • Share vehicle updates and relevant operational information with drivers
  • Support continuous improvement in training and driver development
  • Accident & Incident reduction across the fleet
  • Legislative support alongside compliance teams
  • Safe Systems at Work, process and Procedures

Qualifications:

What we’re looking for:

  • Flexible to work early, late and night shifts as required
  • Hold a UK Driver Accessor Certificate and proven experience within the field
  • Minimum 3 years of HGV driving experience, across varied HGV vehicles
  • Experience conducting driver assessments
  • Valid Class 2 HGV licence, digital tachograph card & In Date CPC Card
  • Good understanding of HGV mechanics and maintenance
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Working Time Directive
  • Confident with driver checks, reporting and record keeping
  • Strong communication skills to engage & support drivers in learning and improving.
