Job Description:
As a Warehouse Supervisor, you will be leading a team in a high‑volume cable distribution environment, handling stock receipt and storage, cutting and preparing cables to customer specifications. This role involves working with a full range of cable offerings, including cables of varying sizes and weights, requiring careful handling and adherence to safety protocols. You will lead by example and ensure that the whole team operates the cable cutting machines, ensuring cables are cut accurately and safely, while performing daily equipment checks and following strict safety procedures, such as using appropriate PPE and maintaining safety guards.
We will be looking for you to be able to lead a team that has high Health & Safety attention whilst working productively to fulfil customer orders - ensuring that daily checks are being completed and logged, issues with equipment are escalated and management notified, orders are accurate, packaged correctly, and dispatched on time and communicating with internal and external stakeholders when they may not be.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervising and supporting a team of operatives to deliver daily KPI’s
- Allocating workload, managing priorities and coordinating cover to meet dispatch deadlines
- Coaching team members on processes, safe working and best practice to improve performance
- Receive, check and store incoming cable deliveries; label and put‑away to correct locations to maintain stock order and traceability.
- Ensure you and the team are following ALL Health & Safety policies and safe working procedures at all times, including correct lifting techniques, PPE use, and safe operation of equipment.
- Operate cable cutting machines to measure and cut cable to customer specifications, including coiling, tagging and preparing cut lengths for dispatch.
- Pick and pack cable orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring correct quantities, lengths, and protection for transit.
- Facilitate all inward and outward stock movements for the hub following company procedures and using IT/WMS systems to update inventory.
- Carry out cycle counts and stock‑takes, report discrepancies and help maintain stock integrity.
- Check and use mechanical handling equipment (counterbalance forklifts, pallet trucks, etc.) safely and in line with company procedures to move palletised drums and reels.
- Maintain high housekeeping standards: ensure cables, drums, reels and packaging are stored tidily and safely to prevent damage and trip hazards.
