We’re looking for a proactive, technically confident DataComms Business Development Manager to grow our DataComms category across a defined territory (North or South of the UK). You’ll win new category business, nurture key customer relationships, and hand over accounts to our operations team for ongoing management — whilst remaining the go-to contact for product innovation, training and new opportunities. This is a hands‑on commercial role with real impact: you’ll develop and run a pipeline, drive sales and CPM targets, and champion our own brand and products and their benefits to our customers.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Build and own a strong sales pipeline for your designated geographical area using market insight and customer engagement.
  • Target existing customers to convert new category spend and win new accounts.
  • Present technical product solutions with clarity and confidence to customers, branches and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to customers and branch colleagues.
  • Communicate market trends, customer insights and opportunities back into the business.
  • Promote our own branch and its benefits for DataComms solutions.
  • Identify and develop strategic partner customers by geography and market segment.
  • Encourage and promote training and CPD to customers to strengthen relationships and product adoption.
  • Focus on margin targets and collaborate with strategic suppliers to maximise mutual growth.

Qualifications:

At Rexel, we prioritize hiring individuals based on behaviours and potential, rather than requiring specific formal qualifications for roles. The behaviours that will set you up for success as a Business Development Manager include:

  • Collaboration – Building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.
  • Holds accountability – holds self and others accountable to meet commitments.
  • Customer partnership – Creating new customer partnerships with multidimensional relationships for strategic insight for future opportunity.
  • Drives results – Consistently achieving results, even under tough circumstances.
  • Influences – using compelling arguments to gain the support and commitment of others.
  • Builds networks – Effectively building formal and informal relationship networks inside and outside the organisation.

What we are looking for:

  • Experience in the DataComms industry, confident to talk to customer partners about Rexel's offer plan and value‑add services.
  • Strong technical understanding of DataComms products and installation requirements.
  • Proven experience developing a sales pipeline and achieving area sales targets.
  • Commercially focused with experience of managing CPM and supplier relationships.
  • Confident presenter and communicator with the ability to influence both technical and commercial stakeholders.
  • Competent with Excel and comfortable working with spreadsheets and CRM systems.
  • Self‑motivated, organised and able to work collaboratively with branch networks and cross‑functional teams.
