Re:work is partnering exclusively with a Series A HRtech company on their first Head of People hire. This is a 0-1 role for someone who has built a People function from scratch before and wants to do it again. Backed by some of the best investors in European tech, they are doubling headcount to 100 by end of year.
The founder has built this company with a clear point of view on culture and an uncompromising hiring bar. He is not looking for someone to import generic HR process. Internally, you will build the fundamentals properly: performance, progression, pay consistency, manager development, and the infrastructure that lets the business scale. A TA hire is already in place, so you can focus on everything that makes the next 50 hires as good as the first 50.
You will also be close to the market, not tucked away internally. You will work closely with the HR and People leaders who use the product, bring that perspective into what it becomes next, and represent the company through dinners, panels, events and the occasional report. You will directly influence how the company is perceived and how it wins customers, not just how it runs internally.
Who this is for
This will suit someone who has worked inside an HRtech or tech startup at an early stage, ideally as a first or early People hire. You haven’t inherited a function someone else built. You’ve walked in early, figured out what needed fixing, and built things that held up under messy scale.
You are comfortable in a room full of HR peers, you have a strong point of view on where the industry is heading, and the credibility to back it up. HR tech fluency matters, whether that’s from working inside an HRtech company or living inside these tools long enough to understand how HR leaders actually think and buy.
The founder
He has built this company with a clear point of view on how a high-growth team should operate and cares deeply about protecting that as it scales. He is direct, has high standards, and is genuinely invested in this hire. This is one of the most important roles in the business right now. He wants you to be so proud of what you build internally that you want to talk about it externally. You will have the freedom and the trust to do it your way.
The details
This role reports directly to the Founding CEO and is based in London or Dublin, with hybrid working and ideally two days in the office. Base £110,000–£130,000 depending on location and experience, with equity. There is flexibility on base for the right person.
