Would you like to join a leading construction, real estate, building services and environmental engineering consultancy as Senior Sustainability Engineer within their London office, complementing an award‑winning team of bright and experienced engineers and sustainability professionals that work on landmark projects for world‑renowned clients. As a multi‑disciplined built environment design consultancy focused on the commercial, residential, leisure, mixed‑use and industrial sectors, their consultants are consistently involved with some of the largest and most iconic buildings in the UK, including several of which have achieved Excellent and Outstanding BREEAM ratings. With an ever‑growing client base and project pipeline, the business intends to expand and develop their sustainability division significantly over the coming years.
Responsibilities
- Part L compliance analysis modelling using EDSL Tas DSM software
- Renewable energy technology feasibility studies
- Producing planning reports and presentations with excellent visual and grammatical quality
- Thermal comfort and overheating modelling (BREEAM, TM52, TM59, Guide A)
- Heating and cooling load calculations
- Complying with internal quality assurance procedures
- Understanding and working to current UK legislation, British Standards and Codes of Practice
- Attending and organising meetings with architects, developers, and the wider design team
- Communicating progress on projects and any concerns
- Working within the agreed budget on tasks as set by the lead consultant
Requirements
- Experience in Dynamic Thermal Modelling software (EDSL Tas or IES)
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Member of a relevant professional institute
- Degree in a relevant subject or relevant industry experience
- Awareness of broad sustainability issues (e.g. passive design, health and wellbeing, post occupancy evaluation, low impact materials, water, waste, environmental economics etc.)
- Willingness to learn about risk management, financial management and commercial awareness
- Willingness to learn a variety of sustainability assessment methods e.g. BREEAM, LEED, WELL, Fitwel etc., and/or modelling software such as IES, TAS, Revit etc., as well as interest in more strategic sustainability consulting
