Overview
Quantity Surveyor – High-Rise Residential | £50,000 – £65,000 + Car Allowance + Travel Allowance + Great Benefits | Manchester | Main Contractor | Perm
Bit left field for me, as I normally work on the M&E side, but this trusted client has asked me to secure a Quantity Surveyor – so that’s what I’ll do.
Here’s the truth. This isn’t just another QS role on another grey and dreary generic site in Manchester.
This is an opportunity to be part of a monumental transformation in the region – a regeneration job that’s bringing Victorian industrial heritage back to life alongside contemporary living spaces
This is tier 1 construction, high-rise residential delivery, with real complexity and genuine pride in blending the old and new.
What the project looks like
Picture this- a 19th century industrial building, once part of Manchester’s industrial boom – being carefully restored and extended with a 10-storey new build, around a landscaped heart, to create close to 200 apartments. It’s heritage meets modern city living.
You’ll be working with a contractor known for:
- Delivering across the UK as part of a global construction group with a strong pipeline and multi-award credentials.
- A clear client-focused delivery ethos and a team that values quality, collaboration and relationship building.
- Prioritising people as much as programmes – they talk about fairness, diversity and impact not just margins.
What comes with the job
- £5,500 car allowance per year
- Up to £400/mth travel allowance for your commute
- 25 days holiday + bank holidays
- Group Life Assurance (3× salary after probation)
- Private Medical Insurance (self only, after probation)
- Pension – 3% employer (goes to 5% after probation)
Who we’re looking for
A practical, commercially sharp Quantity Surveyor with construction experience on high-rise residential projects – someone who knows cost planning, procurement support, valuations and risk mitigation, and who can hold their own around site and in meetings with consultants and subcontractors.
You won’t be the person chasing up invoices from the back office – you’ll be in the mix, helping keep cost and contract strategy tight, pragmatic, and sensible.
