Design Managers are hard to find. Design Managers who can take a set of drawings, challenge them, improve them, coordinate multiple stakeholders and ultimately help deliver a better project are like the proverbial rocking horse…..but that’s where we find ourselves.
We are working with an established and growing main contractor looking to strengthen its pre-construction and project delivery team with the appointment of a Design Manager. The business delivers a diverse range of new-build projects across the Midlands and South East and has built a strong reputation for quality, collaboration and repeat business.
Whilst previous Design Management experience would be advantageous, we are also extremely keen to speak with Architects looking to make the move into a contractor environment. If you've got strong AutoCAD experience, a solid technical understanding and enjoy seeing projects progress from concept through to delivery, we'd be interested in hearing from you.
The role will involve:
- Managing and coordinating the design process from pre-construction through to project completion.
- Working closely with consultants, architects, engineers and subcontractors.
- Reviewing technical information and ensuring design solutions are practical and deliverable.
- Identifying and resolving design issues before they impact programme or construction activities.
- Supporting project teams to ensure information is issued accurately and on time.
- Attending design team meetings and helping drive projects forward.
We are looking for someone with:
- Previous Design Management, Architectural or Technical Design experience.
- Strong AutoCAD skills.
- A good understanding of construction methods and technical detailing.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.
- The ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
This is a business that has grown steadily through reputation rather than chasing turnover at all costs. You'll be joining a close-knit team where people are trusted to do their job, ideas are listened to and individuals are given genuine responsibility.
The role offers a mix of office, site and home working, exposure to interesting projects and the opportunity to develop your career within a business that continues to invest in its people.
