This role is probably going to appeal to one of two types of people: either somebody currently working in pre-construction already but looking for a bit more responsibility or somebody operationally minded who genuinely enjoys the strategy side of construction before a job lands on site.

Clearly this role isn’t just a case of knocking together tender programmes and colouring boxes in on Asta. We need somebody capable of looking at schemes properly and dissecting:

  • How is this actually getting built?
  • What is going to cause problems?
  • What is missing?
  • Where are the risks?
  • What can be done smarter?

The role sits closely with the Head of Pre-Construction and involves working across tenders from early enquiry through to submission. There is quite a lot of autonomy in the role, so we need somebody capable of making decisions rather than constantly waiting for permission to have an opinion.

The company itself has a good reputation internally and externally and has grown steadily through repeat business and sensible project selection rather than chasing absolutely everything going. This could well be for you if you can see both the detail and the bigger picture, understand buildability properly, are commercially aware and can hold the room during tender meetings. Oh, a cool and measured approach would also be an advantage. Asta experience is fairly essential.
