A major Principal / Building Services contractor is looking to appoint a senior operational leader to oversee a significant portfolio of London projects and play a key role in the next phase of the business’ growth. This isn’t a role for somebody to come and babysit, and maintain the status quo – this is about development, growth and progression.

The business is already well established, financially secure and delivering complex, high-value schemes across London and the South East. What they are looking for now is somebody capable of bringing strategic operational leadership across multiple projects, multiple teams and multiple stakeholders - while continuing to raise standards internally. You would be inheriting a strong platform, experienced delivery teams, established client relationships, a healthy pipeline, and a respected name in the market.

This role comes with genuine influence. The successful individual will help shape how projects are governed, how operational teams are developed, how lessons are retained across the business and how delivery standards continue to evolve as the company grows. The position sits at the intersection of operations, commercial awareness, leadership and client management.

You will work closely with senior leadership and commercial teams to ensure projects remain healthy, risks are identified early, operational performance is visible and teams are properly supported to deliver at a consistently high standard. It is likely to suit somebody currently operating at Operations Director, Regional Director or Senior Contracts Director level within the building services or specialist construction sector, particularly those who have experience overseeing multiple complex projects simultaneously.

The right person will probably recognise that this role is less about firefighting individual jobs and more about creating an environment where good delivery becomes repeatable across the wider business. You will need credibility, not just technically, but personally. The ability to challenge where necessary, support operational teams properly, build trust with clients and bring calm, decisive leadership when projects inevitably become pressured.

There is also a significant people element to the role: developing operational talent, creating accountability, encouraging collaboration across departments, and helping build a culture where standards are high but teams still feel supported. The business itself is ambitious but pragmatic, well-run and commercially astute, and genuinely interested in long-term operational improvement rather than short-term noise.

Package circa £130,000 plus executive benefits package. For obvious reasons, this search is being handled confidentially. Further detail will be shared during initial conversations with suitably aligned individuals.
