This isn’t your desk-bound design job. As an Assistant Design Manager, you’ll sit at the heart of a multi-disciplinary construction business, helping shape projects from concept through to completion. The work spans commercial, education, healthcare, conservation, and residential sectors - and we’re looking for someone who cares deeply about design and delivery.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Supporting the design management team through technical and architectural coordination
  • Working closely with site teams, contractors, and consultants to ensure design intent is realised
  • Helping to drive sustainable design solutions (low carbon, long life, low waste)
  • Producing and reviewing design drawings, drawings schedules, and information packs
  • Managing design risk and design-related contractual obligations

Who You Are:

  • You’ve worked in design, architecture, or a similar role (or have a relevant qualification) and want to move into construction delivery
  • Highly organised, detail-focused, and confident liaising with both design and construction teams
  • A problem solver - you enjoy turning design challenges into practical, buildable solutions
  • Passionate about collaboration: this isn’t solo architect work - it’s team-based, cross-discipline, and employee-owned

Why This Role?

  • You’ll work on a wide range of high-profile, meaningful projects - from labs and schools to conservation jobs, stretch your design muscles.
  • A culture that values sustainability, long-term vision, and doing things properly - not cutting corners.
  • Real development opportunities: grow into a design lead or site-lead role, with internal training and mentorship.
