Role Summary

We are looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to help support, maintain and improve Reward’s core infrastructure. This is a hands-on role working across networks, firewalls, servers, Windows services, monitoring, backups and cloud-connected infrastructure. You will be joining the Infrastructure Engineering team, contributing senior technical experience to the operation, maintenance and improvement of Reward’s core infrastructure services. The role suits someone who enjoys practical infrastructure engineering, can troubleshoot complex issues, and is comfortable working across both physical and virtual environments. Some days may involve Wi-Fi or wired network troubleshooting; others may involve server maintenance, backup checks, patching, data centre work, firewall changes, or building cloud environments using agreed standards. This is not a desktop support role or a frontline SecOps role, although you will work closely with Desktop Engineering and SecOps where infrastructure overlaps.

What Success Looks Like

You will help keep Reward’s infrastructure stable, secure and well maintained. You will provide senior technical support across networks, servers, Windows services and infrastructure platforms, contribute to improvement projects, and help the team improve its documentation, monitoring, patching, backup and operational processes. You will be expected to bring good judgement, take responsibility for your work, and help improve the reliability of the infrastructure services that support Reward’s business.

Main Responsibilities

  • Supporting and maintaining Reward’s core infrastructure across office, data centre, hosted and cloud-connected environments.
  • Managing and troubleshooting office and data centre network services, including Wi-Fi, wired networks, LAN, WAN, VPN, routing, switching, VLANs and network links.
  • Supporting the design, build, monitoring, maintenance and improvement of network infrastructure across offices, data centres and connectivity services.
  • Managing core network services including DNS, DHCP, IP addressing and related infrastructure services.
  • Supporting firewall changes, VPNs, connectivity issues and infrastructure security improvements.
  • Administering Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy and related Microsoft infrastructure services.
  • Supporting server monitoring, lifecycle management, patching, upgrades, backups and resilience activity.
  • Monitoring infrastructure health, investigating issues and helping resolve incidents.
  • Supporting backup and disaster recovery processes, including backup job monitoring, restore validation and operational improvements.
  • Supporting physical infrastructure work such as cabinet/rack activity, cabling, equipment moves and data centre visits.
  • Supporting the build of AWS environments in line with agreed standards and standard build processes.
  • Leading or supporting defined infrastructure changes, upgrades and improvement projects.
  • Providing senior technical input into infrastructure standards, documentation, troubleshooting and improvement activity.
  • Keeping documentation, diagrams and support notes up to date.
  • Working with the IT Manager, Infrastructure Engineering, SecOps, Desktop Engineering and third-party suppliers.
  • Participating in out-of-hours maintenance activities and an on-call support rotation where required.
  • Supporting infrastructure-related compliance activity for PCI-DSS, ISO27001 and internal governance standards.

Requirements

  • Experience in an infrastructure, systems administration, network engineering or similar technical role.
  • Good knowledge of networking, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, switching, VPNs and Wi-Fi.
  • Hands-on experience with wired and wireless network management, monitoring and troubleshooting.

  • Strong Windows Server and Active Directory experience.
  • Experience supporting physical, hosted or virtual server environments.
  • Familiarity with server monitoring, lifecycle management, patching, backup jobs and infrastructure maintenance.
