Our mobile development team is expanding, and we have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Engineer. We are looking for someone who is passionate about creating high-quality mobile experiences and is comfortable balancing hands-on technical delivery and leadership with mentoring a small team.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Designing solutions, participating in design reviews, recommending improvements, and fostering consensus through clear communication and your strong technical skills to support your recommendations.
  • Design, develop, and maintain high-quality mobile applications using React Native.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product, Design, and Backend Engineering, to ensure seamless integration of new features and improvements in our mobile applications using Typescript and React Native.
  • Continuously improve the user experience of our mobile applications.
  • Work in a team environment with shared code, ensuring disciplined use of source code control and process documentation.
  • Identify, analyse, and resolve performance bottlenecks and inefficiencies in the mobile application codebase.
  • Write and maintain comprehensive unit tests and documentation for the project.
  • Mentor junior developers and actively participate in code reviews to maintain a high standard of code quality for mobile applications.
  • Stay informed on mobile development trends, tooling, and best practices.

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise:

  • 6+ years of development experience building mobile applications in React Native with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a technical lead role.
  • Experience developing large-scale business-critical SaaS applications.
  • In-depth knowledge of the React and React Native frameworks.
  • Excellent programming skills in JavaScript, preferably with TypeScript and GraphQL experience.
  • A good understanding of the Android and iOS platforms.
  • Experience with frontend testing frameworks.
  • Familiarity with modern front-end build pipelines and tooling.
  • Understanding of mobile UI/UX best practices and principles.
  • Problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Work mode and Salary:

We offer a flexible hybrid work mode with a requirement to be in the London office twice per week. Salary budget for the role is £95,000 - £100,000 gross per year, excluding company benefits. Kindly note that we do not currently offer a performance bonus or equity shares.

The Interview Process:

Online interview with the Senior Talent Partner, Engineering Lead, and Head of Frontend. This should last no longer than 45 minutes. Final video interview of 75 minutes consisting of 3 stages. This includes: 45 minutes to discuss your experience, technical abilities, and team management skills; 15 minutes to review and discuss a coding exercise; and 15 minutes to discuss questions you may have.
