We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Logistics Specialist to join the team on a full-time, permanent basis. The role is reporting into our site Logistics Team Lead and is based in our manufacturing facility in Llantrisant.
Key Responsibilities:
- Management of Site inventory control and active participation in annual inventory counts.
- Be the backup of the logistics Team leader, directly supervise and coordinate the activities of Material Handlers and dispatch during their absence.
- Assist the Logistics Team leader to review SOPs, Continuous improvement project and maintaining KPIs.
- Site management of CAA Known Consignor program.
- Work with the Logistics Team leader to drive the performance (operational) metrics.
- Classification & Valuation: Assign correct HS/tariff codes and determine accurate customs valuation for products.
- Support Site on COO (Country of Origin) determination.
- Validate commercial invoices, packing lists, and air waybills for accuracy and compliance.
- Use SAP, freight system, and internet to track status of inbound/outbound shipments.
- Contact the carriers and freight forwarders to solve any delays in inbound and outbound freights.
- Validate Freight Forwarders/Couriers invoices, Check base rates, zones, and service levels against our Global carrier rate cards, verify extra fees like fuel surcharges, PSS: peak season surcharges, Accessorial fees: driver waiting times, liftgate use etc.
- Develop and monitor logistics KPI`s using the system Intelligent Logistics.
- Process bills of lading, customs forms, and commercial invoices.
- Manage shipments: Book Road, air, or sea transport and track loads from start to end.
- Fix routing problems, delays, or damaged goods quickly.
- Improve and create SOP related to all Logistics activities.
- Support and active cross-functional interaction with other departments to meet site goals and business needs.
- Develop, maintain, and report cost reduction projects reporting to the warehouse/logistics manager.
- Issue manual customs invoices (non-systematic shipments).
- Send customs clearance instructions and check import declarations.
Basic Qualifications:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; requires interaction with many stakeholders both internally and externally.
- Experience in Logistics and warehouse roles.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access).
- Strong knowledge of SAP is advantageous, for all transactions and various interfaces as it relates to shipping consumable, instrument, and service orders.
- Background in Hazardous materials shipping, IATA is preferable but not essential.
- Experience in Continuous Improvement/DMAIC process is preferred.
Requirements:
- Full knowledge and understanding of SAP for warehouse management.
- Knowledge of the import and export procedures and regulations.
- Knowledge of regulations and a deep understanding of international trade legislation, customs procedures, and transportation regulations.
- Problem solving ability.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Strong interpersonal skills to manage staff and interact with stakeholders.
- Excellent customer service, communication, negotiation, and mediation skills.
- Excellent planning and organizational ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously.
- Good geographical knowledge and understanding of global trade routes.
- Ability to remain focused, flexible, and calm under pressure.
- Proficiency in key IT systems relevant to logistics and freight forwarding.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
- Solid experience in freight forwarding, with a strong understanding of industry processes and documentation.
