We are looking to recruit a Scientist 2 to join our Mimix Production Team. Mimix provides genetically defined, human genomic reference standards, including FFPE cell line blocks and purified gDNA. These standards offer a sustainable source of reference material to laboratories, proficiency schemes, and manufacturers, and provide an unprecedented level of control to the molecular pathology community. The availability of genetically defined reference standards provides an industry standard for development and quality control of molecular assays, directly improving their accuracy.
This is a lab-based role. Candidates will be expected to work on multiple tasks or projects simultaneously and should be organised, highly selfâmotivated, able to work to tight timelines and be comfortable working under pressure in an environment with shifting priorities.
Key Responsibilities- Support the generation and quality testing of products including FFPE cell line blocks and purified gDNA.
- Accurately maintain production records in accordance with the quality system.
- Prepare SOPs and ensure that current procedures are kept upâtoâdate.
- Ensure product quality by maintaining a high standard of work.
- Following training, independently perform detailed tasks without supervision.
- Assist with training of newer team members in lab tasks.
- Process, record, and report all data generated in a precise and organised manner.
- Identify and solve problems associated with processes or own activities.
- Define and implement process improvements.
- Fill out Quality documentation with minimal supervision.
- Use resources effectively and hold self and others accountable for high standards.
- Assist with planning of team tasks as required.
- Take on extra tasks within the team to ensure smooth dayâtoâday running of the labs and manufacturing processes.
- Subject matter expert in at least one aspect of the Manufacturing process or supporting areas.
- At least 2 years relevant industry experience.
- Degree in Biotechnology or a Biological discipline with experience in a biology laboratory setting.
- A careful and meticulous nature with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a highly dynamic environment and on several different tasks concurrently.
- Ability to work to tight timelines and be able to manage a busy workload.
- Confident, flexible, adaptable, independent and resilient.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office.
- Experience of working under a quality management system e.g. ISO 9001.
- Experience in two or more of the following techniques: digital droplet PCR, cell culture, handling FFPE tissues, nucleic acid extraction.
