We’re working with a leading global engineering and technology consultancy to recruit a Senior Principal AI Engineer to join their growing AI practice. This is a high-impact role combining hands-on engineering, technical leadership, and client-facing delivery across cutting-edge AI programmes. The Role
As a Senior Principal AI Engineer, you’ll play a key role in designing and delivering end-to-end AI solutions within complex client environments. You’ll work closely with stakeholders to translate business challenges into scalable, secure, and responsible AI systems. This role offers a blend of technical depth, strategic input, and client interaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- AI Engineering & Delivery
- Design, build, and deploy end-to-end AI/ML solutions (including generative AI use cases)
- Develop robust, production-ready pipelines covering data ingestion through to deployment and monitoring
- Implement MLOps best practices (CI/CD, model versioning, automated retraining, monitoring)
- Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and reliable in live environments
- Define solution architectures aligned to client needs and long-term sustainability
- Set and maintain engineering standards across AI delivery
- Evaluate and implement emerging technologies (e.g. GenAI, LLMs, vector databases)
- Work directly with clients to shape AI use cases and assess feasibility
- Lead workshops and technical design sessions
- Act as a trusted advisor on AI strategy, risks, and implementation
- Embed principles such as explainability, bias mitigation, and data privacy
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations (e.g. GDPR)
- Mentor engineers and data scientists
- Contribute to internal best practices, tools, and reusable frameworks
About You
- Strong software engineering background (Python essential)
- Proven experience delivering production AI/ML systems
- Hands-on experience with frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or scikit-learn
- Solid understanding of MLOps and deploying models into live environments
- Cloud platform experience (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage non-technical stakeholders
