The payments department is currently a lean, high-performing team requiring experienced leadership to maintain operational excellence.
Role Overview: We are seeking a Payments Analyst with team lead capabilities to support day-to-day operations, supervise analysts, and step in as deputy when the Payments Manager is unavailable. This role requires hands-on experience in payment processing, a strong understanding of treasury and banking operations, and proven leadership and supervisory experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process domestic payments (BACS, CHAPS, Faster Payments) β incoming and outgoing.
- Process international payments and manage SWIFT transactions (MT103, MT199).
- Book foreign exchange (FX) transactions and monitor card payments.
- Perform second checks and authorise manually entered or repaired payments.
- Lead, supervise, and mentor payments analysts, providing guidance on daily operations.
- Act as deputy for the Payments Manager when required, ensuring continuity of operations.
- Liaise with internal teams and clients regarding rejected or exceptional items and required documentation.
- Communicate with clients on payment and account queries, maintaining high service standards.
- Assist the Compliance team with transaction monitoring and treasury reconciliation.
- Maintain and create procedural documentation to ensure process clarity.
- Resolve issues proactively to minimise client dissatisfaction and potential revenue loss.
- Coordinate with counterparty banks to confirm and investigate outstanding items.
