We have a great opportunity for an experienced DevOps Engineer to be the sole DevOps lead to set strategy and own day‑to‑day DevOps for the clients platform and AWS estate, with a heavy focus on GitLab CI/CD. Works closely with the Software Engineering team to streamline delivery and maintain secure, reliable infrastructure.
Must‑haves:
- GitLab CI/CD: design, operate, and optimise pipelines; manage runners (EC2).
- AWS (hands‑on): EC2, IAM, VPC, networking, scaling, security baselines, cost awareness.
- CloudFormation (not Terraform): IaC patterns, modular stacks, change sets, drift detection.
- Sole‑operator capability: self‑starter; comfortable being the only DevOps engineer.
- Incident & reliability: monitoring/alerting (CloudWatch, dashboards), RCA, steady‑state ops.
- Software engineering literacy: understands TypeScript/JavaScript ecosystems; no day‑to‑day coding required but must collaborate effectively with engineers.
Nice‑to‑haves:
- NX monorepo familiarity (tooling/implications for pipelines).
- eCommerce/Online/Web context.
- Playwright integration experience (test automation in CI).
- Certifications (AWS/DevOps), New Relic (or similar).
