FLIGHT COMPENSATION: €33.00 Hourly Flight Pay

SUMMARY: Responsibility is to evaluate, coordinate and deliver medical care provided to patients during air transport. Is familiar with the scope of practice of the transport team members and government regulations in which the transport team practices. Works with the other transport team members to coordinate care of the patient during transport; once called, readily available/arrive at specified location, within 1 hour before wheels up.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The following reflects management’s definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other reasons.

PREFLIGHT RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Obtains medical report from Medical Director or designee, to include addressing diseases affected by altitude.
  • Calls for update with discharging facility / Physician when appropriate.
  • Participates in Pre-Flight debriefing with other members of the medical team, pilots and flight coordinator.
  • Familiar with the location and use of all medical equipment and supplies.
  • Participates in pre-flight checking of medical equipment and supplies when necessary and requests additional supplies as needed specific to patient’s condition and needs, based on available patient report and distance of transport.
  • Participates in loading and securing equipment in the aircraft.

TRANSPORT RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs and documents a complete head to toe assessment of the patient.
  • Assists the medical crew in obtaining appropriate documentation from the patient and passengers, i.e., passports, visas, and/or documentation of medical events and interventions.
  • Safeguards all medical records, x-rays and other medical documentation as per HIPPA regulations.
  • Assists the medical crew in obtaining signatures on consent forms.
  • Assists the medical crew in safe transport from facility to aircraft.
  • Assures delivery of minimum standard of care (see: Minimum Standard Patient Care Requirements) bedside to bedside.
  • Maintains constant communication with medical team, pilots, Operations Center, and Medical Coordinators. Works collaboratively to coordinate the patient care delivery given.
  • Assures adherence to Universal Precautions.
  • Transfers care of patient and records to the receiving facility. Gives report to receiving Physician, if present at time of arrival, and documents the name of physician report was given to.

POST FLIGHT RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Completes medical records documentation upon release of patient to receiving facility.
  • Assists medical crew in cleaning and storing medical equipment.
  • Co-signs controlled substance forms and log.
  • Completes occurrence reports when indicated to assist in the CQI program.
  • Completes debriefing, including completion and signature on debrief form, with entire transport team.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attends general staff meetings and educational programs as per the medical departments programs.
  • Complies with Dress Code.
  • Provides a monthly availability schedule.
  • Notifies Director of Clinical Operations if unable to be on call on predetermined days.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to Reva Inc.’s mission statement through consistent patterns of work behavior exhibiting positive relations with coworkers and promoting professional representation of the company and external customers.
  • Completes annual requirements, to include Annual Equipment and supplies competency / currency validation form, Medical screening update form, Safety and infection control update form, ICU/Trauma competencies form, Aircraft and personnel security briefing form, completed quarterly intubations, completed online training, Wellness form, EMS Rules and Regulations review, Hazardous materials recognition and response review.
  • Does not participate in risk-taking behavior while on transports.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, Anesthesiology or Trauma care and have educational experience commensurate with mission statement.
  • Ability to understand and adhere to established policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Demonstrated competence in reacting to and handling emergencies.
  • Able to work collaboratively with multiple health professionals in a busy and complex environment using tact, diplomacy, and discipline.
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds.
  • Bilingual skills a plus.
  • Current certifications.
  • Certification of a DOT approved flight physiology course.
  • Drivers License.
  • Current Passport.
  • Proficient on Microsoft Suite including word processing.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following:
  • Walk and stand for prolonged periods.
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Transfer/position patients of all ages and physical conditions.

COMPENSATION:

  • €33.00 Hourly Flight Pay - Flight pay is time spent during a flight or ground time. Per Diem employee must use pay code “Hourly Flight Pay” and Flight Number “Actual flight number 18001 - 99999” in ADP for time keeping purposes. Flight Pay includes but not limited to: Pre-flight and Post-flight duties. During flight & ground time with patient.
  • €17.00 Hourly Commercial Flight Pay – When repositioning via commercial airlines for a REVA flight. Per Diem employee must use pay code “Commercial Flight Pay” and Flight Number “Actual flight number 18001 - 99999” in ADP for time keeping purposes. Used when on a commercial flight, train, or traveling by automobile. Per Diem employee is able to enter Commercial Flight Pay two hours prior to airline flight departure. Commercial Flight Pay ends upon flight arrival to destination airport.
  • €11.00 Hourly Training Rate – Training rate is time spent in office for trainings including. Per Diem employee must use pay code “Hourly Training Rate” and Flight Number “Office” in ADP for time keeping purposes. Pay rate includes but not limited to: Initial ground school, quarterly trainings, monthly department meetings. This does not include Town Hall Meetings. Any other required in office training.
  • €9.00 Hourly Layover Rate – Layover is considered rest period after patient has been dropped off at another facility and Per Diem employee is on RON (Rest Over Night). RON ends when either patient is picked up, or Per Diem employee returns to airport for flight.
  • Flight Crew Meal Allowances – Crew members on flights are provided per diem meal allowances depending on the number of Hotel stays a crew member has during the flight. It is the employee’s responsibility to enter the meal allowances into ADP post-flight. Meal allowances not entered timely prior to the end of the pay period cycle will have their meals forfeited and will not be allowed to enter the following payroll.

HOLIDAYS:

  • REVA Ireland base observes nine (9) paid holidays. Flight crew flying on a holiday will receive a €180 bonus. Observed holidays are: New Year’s Day (1 January), Saint Patrick’s Day (17 March), Easter Monday, First Mondays in May, June, and August. Last Monday in October. Christmas Day (25 December) Saint Stephen’s Day (26 December).

MALPRACTICE INSURANCE:

  • REVA provides a €896,223 Medical Malpractice Insurance coverage per incident through ARCH Specialty Insurance Co. Employees may request a written statement of your average hourly rate of pay for any reference period falling within the previous 12 months as provided in Section 23 of the National Minimum Wage Act, 2000.
