Rev & Regs are recruiting for a Finance Director position for a well-established and reputable law firm in Tonbridge. With a friendly and warm team, they are one of the most highly regarded firms in the area. This is a senior leadership role offering the opportunity to shape the firm's financial strategy, lead a high-performing finance team, and contribute directly to the continued growth and success of the business.

Reporting to the Partners and working closely with the Management Board, the Finance Director will be responsible for the overall management of the firm's finance function, ensuring regulatory compliance, delivering strategic financial insight, and driving operational excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Management of the accounts team and overall responsibility for the efficient functioning of the team to include, but not exclusively: All aspects of office and client account ensuring compliance with SAR, Bank reconciliation, Petty cash, Purchase ledger, Payroll, VAT returns and Treasury.
  • Be on the Firm’s Management Board or, in view of proposed changes to the COFA role, work closely with it.
  • Supply of comprehensive financial management information to Partners on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Responsibility for the financial systems of the firm and the most efficient usage of the same by all members of staff.
  • Budgeting and all aspects of financial planning.
  • Credit management – including management of credit control function, control of work in progress, cashflow management, work-in-progress and other target setting.
  • Responsibility for preparation of the firm's final accounts.
  • Responsible for the firm's relationship with its bankers, insurers (PI) and accountants.
  • Responsible for records relating to partner balances, capital accounts and taxation reserves.
  • Calculate partner drawings, liaise with partners accountants to ensure correct tax is provided and paid.
  • In conjunction with Head of Operational Risk & compliance manage the renewal of PI insurance and general office insurances.

Experience required:

  • Good understanding of Solicitors Accounting Rules.
  • Previous experience running an accounts department for a legal firm.
  • Member of recognised accountancy body, preferably ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
  • Proficient in use of Excel, competent in MS Word and Outlook.
  • Good communicator, organised, able to prioritise work, attention to detail.
  • Ability to identify training and development needs of staff they are supervising.

Location: Hybrid / Tonbridge office

Salary: £80,000 - £100,000 plus bonus
