The Opportunity
My Client is looking for an
Account Director to guide and deliver integrated public affairs and strategic communications programmes for a range of clients.
You’ll work closely with Account Managers and Senior Account Managers to shape activity, set direction and ensure work is consistently aligned with client needs and commercial objectives.
You will take ownership of a portfolio of accounts across Tech, Infrastructure, Energy and Higher Education, ensuring that teams are performing well, expectations are clear, KPIs are met and that the consultancy is demonstrably moving the needle for each client.
Key Responsibilities
- Overseeing day-to-day delivery across multiple accounts, ensuring exceptional service and measurable results.
- Providing senior counsel to clients on political engagement, reputation strategy and stakeholder influence.
- Setting structured KPIs and ensuring teams and clients are aligned on goals, timelines and scope, with proactive planning several months ahead.
- Keeping a close eye on political, regulatory and stakeholder developments so that advice is always timely and insight-driven.
- Building a deep understanding of your clients’ sectors, challenges and commercial priorities - and helping your team do the same.
- Leading, motivating and developing account teams, including line management responsibilities for junior colleagues.
- Supporting business growth by renewing client relationships, identifying upsell opportunities and playing a key role in pitching for new work.
- Actively expanding your own network and representing My Client at events, roundtables and stakeholder gatherings.
- Acting as a confident spokesperson for the consultancy, articulating its strengths and point of difference in the market.
- Key Experience Required
- Experience within a Public Affairs consultancy at Senior Consultant or Senior Account Manager level and above.
- Has a demonstrable success in PA/Policy across any of the following sectors - Energy, Tech, Higher Education or Infrastructure.
- Comfortable providing senior level counsel on complex issues.
- Confident people-management skills with a passion for developing junior talent.
- A strong and proven track record of winning new business and contributing to successful pitches.
- Knowledge of regulated markets ideally preferred.
