Are you an experienced design professional who loves bringing creative ideas to life and inspiring a team to deliver their best work? We’re looking for a Design Director to join an award-winning integrated communications agency on a part-time (3 days per week), 12-month fixed term contract. You’ll play a key role in shaping the agency’s creative direction – from leading client projects and new business pitches to mentoring a small but talented design team.
About the Agency
This award-winning, full-service communications agency delivers PR, digital marketing, content, social and design work for clients across financial, professional, and corporate sectors. Known for its collaborative culture and high-quality creative output, the agency helps brands punch above their weight through campaigns that blend smart strategy with bold ideas.
The Role
As Design Director, you’ll be responsible for owning the creative vision and managing the day-to-day workflow of the studio. You’ll work closely with senior leadership and account teams to ensure creative excellence across everything from reports and digital content to campaigns and brand assets. You’ll also play a key role in client meetings, kick-offs, and pitches - bringing strategic insight and creative confidence to the table.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and inspire the design team to deliver high-quality creative work across print and digital.
- Oversee design strategy and execution across multiple client accounts.
- Attend and contribute to client meetings, pitches, and project kick-offs, ensuring creative thinking supports business objectives.
- Manage and prioritise studio resources, budgets, and timelines effectively.
- Provide creative leadership and hands-on input where needed.
- Mentor and develop designers, fostering a collaborative and motivated team culture.
- Collaborate with account, content, and digital teams to ensure design is integrated across all activity.
- Drive innovation, continuously improving processes, tools, and creative quality.
About You
- Experienced Design Director or Senior Designer with agency or in-house experience.
- Design experience in corporate/B2B communications a bonus.
- Strong conceptual and strategic thinker who’s equally comfortable being hands-on.
- Confident leading client conversations, presentations, and creative pitches.
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and familiar with digital and motion tools.
- Skilled at managing multiple projects and motivating teams.
- Commercially minded, organised, and proactive.
Why You’ll Love It
You’ll join a collaborative, ambitious agency where creative thinking truly influences strategy. Expect a mix of design, leadership, and client-facing work – all within a supportive and flexible environment. With the role being part time, you’ll have the flexibility and freedom to work on other things/with other companies across the other two days, if you wish to.
