About the company

Our client is an established communications consultancy specialising in companies, founders and investors operating across the innovation and technology sectors. The business advises organisations throughout the UK, continental Europe and North America, combining senior counsel, multi-channel communications programmes and access to an extensive network across the industries it serves.

Its client base spans the broader technology and investment community, from early-stage and scaling businesses through to venture investors, private capital organisations, large companies, advisory firms, accelerator programmes and industry events. The consultancy helps growth-focused organisations strengthen their profile, reputation and commercial positioning through intelligent communications and informed strategic guidance.

What the job entails

Joining at Account Director level, you will take senior responsibility for a portfolio of clients, helping shape their communications direction and translating broader business priorities into effective programmes of activity. You will provide high-level counsel, build forward-looking plans, spot potential challenges and opportunities, maintain a consistently high standard of output and draw on strong relationships across the media and technology community to secure meaningful exposure and influence.

You will also oversee the people working across your accounts, allocating responsibilities effectively and providing guidance to colleagues at junior and intermediate levels. Alongside day-to-day client leadership, you will be accountable for developing members of your team, including those reporting directly into you, supporting both their performance and longer-term career growth.

Commercial contribution is another important element of the position. You will play an active role in winning new clients, lead or contribute significantly to competitive pitches, recognise opportunities to broaden existing relationships and participate in wider business initiatives alongside other senior colleagues within the consultancy.

This is a permanent London-based opportunity operating within a hybrid working model.

Key requirements / What we look for

  • A minimum of five years of experience within communications or public relations, preferably combining consultancy experience with time spent inside a venture-backed technology company or venture investment environment.
  • Previous agency-side exposure to organisations operating within the technology market, with particularly relevant experience covering areas such as artificial intelligence, information security, cyber, quantum computing or other advanced and emerging technologies.
  • Demonstrable ability across communications planning, written content, journalist engagement and the successful leadership of client relationships.
  • Strong relationships with relevant journalists and industry contacts, together with proven confidence in business development and taking a leading role during pitch processes.
  • A track record of supervising, mentoring and helping develop colleagues across junior and middle-management levels.
