Reuben Myers Solicitors is a litigation-focused law firm based in Preston, acting for clients across England and Wales. We specialise in credit hire, vehicle damage, storage recovery, serious personal injury litigation, and cross-border claims. We are looking for a full-time, on-site Pre-Litigation Fee Earner to join our Preston office. The successful candidate will manage a caseload of pre-litigation matters, including credit hire, vehicle damage, storage, and property-related losses. The role will involve handling matters from initial instruction through to settlement, resolution, or escalation to litigation where required.
The role will include:
- Reviewing evidence, liability, and quantum
- Drafting correspondence, letters of claim, and pre-action communications
- Negotiating settlements with insurers, third parties, and representatives
- Maintaining accurate file notes and progressing matters efficiently
- Ensuring compliance with court rules, pre-action protocols, and internal procedures
- Liaising with clients, credit hire organisations, insurers, and other parties
- Preparing files for litigation where settlement cannot be achieved
Key Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
- A strong grounding in law, civil procedure, and pre-action protocols
- Knowledge of motor claims, credit hire, vehicle damage, storage, and subrogated recovery
- Experience or clear interest in civil litigation and insurance recovery work
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to draft clear, structured correspondence and reports
- Good negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- The ability to manage a busy caseload and meet deadlines
- Good attention to detail and file organisation
- Confidence using case management systems and standard office software
- Previous experience in litigation, credit hire, motor claims, or insurance recovery is advantageous
A legal qualification, including a law degree, LPC/SQE route, CILEX qualification, or equivalent experience, is beneficial but not essential. For the right candidate, a training contract may also be available following successful completion of the probationary period.
