About the role

Rettie Short Lets is a subsidiary of Rettie, a leading, independent property specialist in Scotland. The reputation of the Rettie brand has been built on the back of our successful track record of unrivalled market knowledge and exceptional customer service. Our ARLA-accredited Lettings and Management division of over 30 employees are trained and experienced in all aspects of property management and letting.

The candidate should ideally have Short Let and Festival Let management experience and be able to confidently discuss the licensing and planning requirements for the short lets market. Rettie Short Lets deals with the booking and management of a portfolio of properties available for short-term lets throughout the year as well as festival lets primarily for the month of August.

The role requires excellent organisational, administrative and people skills and an ability to work within a focused and driven team. You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the short-lets portfolio, including pitching for new business, marketing properties on our web platforms, securing bookings, and looking after guests’ and landlords’ needs. You will also be responsible for the ongoing property management in the short-lets and festival portfolio, ensuring safety and compliance are adhered to, as well as dealing with lease documentation, check-ins/outs, deposit and rental payments.

Working closely with the Director you will assist them in growing the year-round and festival portfolio while at all times delivering an exceptional client experience. You will work collaboratively with your colleagues across the business and ensure that our processes are constantly being improved to further the integration of our long-term and short-term management businesses. In addition, you will carry out general administrative tasks as required to provide the best possible support service.

Key responsibilities

  • Driving Portfolio Performance – improve the performance of the assets under management, retain clients and promote portfolio growth within both the short let and festival portfolio.
  • Managing Administration – administration of all aspects of the lettings and management process across the Short Lets and Festival portfolios.
  • Excelling in Client Care – to provide the highest standard of client care and satisfaction.
  • Maintaining Company and Operational Standards – to ensure standards are met and a continuous learning approach is adopted.

Key requirements

  • Full, clean driving licence
  • Highly proficient in the use of IT systems including MS Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Experience gained in a customer service or sales role
  • Strong administrative skills
  • Detailed knowledge of the Private Residential Sector and/or Short Lets Market and the current Licensing/Planning Process

Desirable

  • MARLA or equivalent
  • Detailed knowledge of the Edinburgh lettings market
  • Professional experience in the management of client relationships
  • Experience in conflict resolution and negotiation
