About the role
Due to the continued growth of our lettings portfolio, we are delighted to be recruiting a Trainee Property Manager to join our Glasgow Lettings Team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is at the start of their journey into property and is keen to build a long-term career in lettings. In this trainee role, you will be supported to develop your knowledge of the lettings and property management process, while learning how to deliver an exceptional experience for landlords, tenants and colleagues. You will gradually build confidence in managing client relationships, coordinating key tenancy processes and understanding how to support the performance of a residential property portfolio.
We are looking for someone with a genuine interest in property, strong communication skills and the confidence to work with a range of people. Some previous property, lettings or customer-facing experience would be helpful, but more important is your enthusiasm to learn, your ability to stay well organised, and your commitment to developing a career in lettings with Rettie.
About you
Ideally, the preferred candidate will already have some experience in lettings or an estate agency environment handling customer service and administration. It is also very important that you are confident, well organised and genuinely interested in building a career in lettings. You will enjoy working with people, communicating clearly and professionally, and taking responsibility for keeping tasks on track. You should be comfortable learning new systems and processes, asking questions, and developing your knowledge through hands-on experience and support from the wider team.
Key responsibilities
- Responsible for the effective management and performance of the lettings portfolio by helping to minimise void periods, support rent and arrears processes, and contribute to a positive experience for landlords and tenants.
- Responsible for the accurate administration of key lettings processes, including compliance checks, safety testing, tenant referencing, move-ins, inspections, maintenance, checkouts and deposit administration.
- Communicate confidently and professionally with clients, tenants, contractors and colleagues, ensuring tasks are followed through, records are kept up to date, and service standards are maintained.

Essential- A full clean driving licence

- Strong communication skills, with the confidence to speak with clients, tenants, contractors and colleagues
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail
- A proactive, positive approach and willingness to learn
- Competence using IT systems, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Some previous experience in property, lettings, estate agency, administration or a customer-facing role
- An understanding of the lettings process or an interest in learning more about the private rented sector
- Experience using property software or confidence learning new systems
- An interest in developing knowledge of lettings legislation, compliance and best practice
- Previous experience working in a busy team environment where organisation and customer service were important
