About the role
This is an important role sitting in our Development Services teams, with a particular focus on Research and Consultancy. The successful candidate will maintain our data library, including tracking new build developments across the country, maintaining and improving the quality of data held within our Property Tracking System. They will also be involved in primary and secondary research across property use classes (particularly in the Living Sector such as residential for sale, Build to Rent and Purpose‑Built Student Accommodation). In addition, they will contribute to external reports for clients and to Rettie publications and internal market briefings.

Key responsibilities
- Maintain and update the Research data library and ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Maintain and update the Property Tracking System (PTS), ensuring comprehensive and accurate coverage of new build developments across Scotland.
- Proactively research and track new developments, building strong relationships with housebuilder sales teams, agents and other key industry contacts.
- Monitor and record re‑sale activity to track development performance and progression over time.
- Support the production of market insights and reports for internal teams and external clients.
- Deliver a high standard of internal customer service, building strong relationships across the business.
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve data quality, processes, and system usability.
Key requirements
- Ability to deliver high‑quality research and data support.
- Experience in working with databases, systems or large datasets.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office.
- Confident communicator with the ability to build professional relationships.
- A degree in a numerical discipline, including Economics or Statistics, is desirable.
- Some relevant work experience is also desirable but not essential.
- The Assistant will be expected to enrol for the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) qualification for the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), which the business will support.
