Retroclassic Engineering specialise in the restoration and repair of a wide range of vintage, classic, retro and future classic cars, along with carrying out bespoke modifications and ‘restomod’ conversions. We are looking for a Classic Car Mechanic/Vehicle Restoration Technician who is capable of working on a wide range of vehicles from pre‑war through to ‘future classics’. Our premises is based in Moreton Valance, Gloucestershire (just 5 minutes from the M5 Junction 12/13) and is fully equipped to carry out all aspects of mechanical and bodywork restoration.

All candidates must possess a drive to succeed, be self‑motivated, always strive for perfection and wish to work in an environment where quality comes above all else.

Responsibilities
  • Vehicle strip‑down and assembly, refurbishment and overhaul of all vehicle mechanical parts for restoration
  • Complete vehicle builds including restoration of vehicles to original specification along with ‘restomod’ conversions
  • Underbody restorations, brake/fuel pipe replacement, general mechanical repairs and servicing, tyre fitting and wheel alignment
  • Mechanical/electrical fault diagnosis and repair, aftermarket ECU installation and custom wiring loom fabrication
  • Major engine and transmission overhauls/repairs, engine rebuilds and modifications
  • Project management and acting as a mentor for other members of the restoration team
Desired Skills
  • Experience working within the classic car or motorsport industries, or premium brand experience within a main dealer or independent establishment
  • Experience in complete vehicle builds
  • Fault finding, a high level of computer and ‘old fashioned’ diagnostic skills, ability to proficiently use oscilloscopes and dealer level diagnostic systems
  • Experience in engine and transmission rebuild/repair
  • Quality control and team leadership experience
  • A high level of IT and organisational skills
Candidate Expectations
  • Have a high level of attention to detail, enjoy working to the very highest of standards and always strive for perfection, take pride in the quality of their work, and have a strong interest in classic cars
  • Work independently to meet strict project deadlines without constant supervision, managing your own project efficiently including producing parts lists and completion of detailed job records
  • Have at least 5 years experience in a relevant field within the automotive industry and hold industry qualifications, be comfortable working to strict deadlines/target hours and able to follow detailed work instructions
  • Have good communication and IT skills, a positive ‘can‑do’ attitude, a strong work ethic, and be punctual/organised
  • Maintain a clean and organised work environment
  • Have a positive approach to learning new skills and working as part of a team
  • Hold a Full UK Manual Driving Licence

This role is a full‑time position working Monday – Friday either 7am - 4pm or 8am - 5pm, overtime available. All candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance of our premises in Moreton Valance, Gloucestershire, GL2 7LZ.
