Retroclassic Engineering specialise in the restoration and repair of a wide range of vintage, classic, retro and future classic cars, along with carrying out bespoke modifications and ‘restomod’ conversions. We are looking for a Classic Car Panel Beater/Coachbuilder who is capable of working on a wide range of vehicles from pre-war through to 'future classics'. Our premises is based in Moreton Valance, Gloucestershire (just 5 minutes from the M5 Junction 12/13) and is fully equipped to carry out all aspects of mechanical and bodywork restoration. All candidates must possess a drive to succeed, be self‑motivated, always strive for perfection and wish to work in an environment where quality comes above all else.
Responsibilities
- Completing restoration standard corrosion/welding repairs to a wide variety of vehicles
- Panel fabrication for restoration projects where new panels are not available
- Carrying out conversions and modifications to a wide range of classic vehicles to the highest of standards including ‘restomod’ projects
- Rectification of vehicle body damage and general body repair works
- Ensuring all repairs are protected to the highest anti‑corrosion standards following our strict process
Desirable Skills
- Experience in replacement of pre‑fabricated repair panels and panel alignment
- Experience in sheet metalwork and panel fabrication/shaping to a restoration standard
- MIG Welding to a restoration standard
- Strip/fit and panel alignment/accident repair experience would be a distinct advantage
- Jig work experience including replacement of large sections/panels of vehicles
- Experience working within the classic car or motorsport industries, or premium brand experience within a main dealer or independent establishment
- TIG Welding experience in mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium would be a distinct advantage (including TIG welding of panels to a restoration standard)
- Experience with an English wheel, Pullmax and other restoration style panel shaping equipment would be beneficial (training can be provided)
Requirements
- Have a keen eye for detail, take pride in the quality of their work, and have a strong interest in classic cars
- Work independently to meet strict project deadlines without constant supervision, managing your own project efficiently including producing parts lists and completion of detailed job records
- Have at least 5 years experience in a relevant field within the automotive industry and hold industry qualifications, be comfortable working to strict deadlines/target hours and able to follow detailed work instructions
- Have good communication and IT skills, a positive ‘can‑do’ attitude, a strong work ethic, and be punctual/organised
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment
- Have a positive approach to learning new skills and working as part of a team
- Hold a Full UK Manual Driving Licence
This role is a full‑time position working Monday – Friday 8am‑5pm, overtime available. All candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance of our premises in Moreton Valance, Gloucestershire, GL2 7LZ. Salary: £40,000 - £55,000 per annum, dependent on skills and experience.
